I started up the main apps I use and all work. I did all but emptying the trash as I got some kind of warning when I went to restart about something not done right. Regarding the "Pay to Ignore" marketing plan (which I agree does exist), I apparently don't visit the Big Bucks sites much, as I never 'notice' any ads. I do see a smattering of sites that are 'detecting' the blocking of their ads and displaying a "statement" in their place on the page that reminds one that the free access is supported by their sponsors. I am sure it is very good alternative to ABP and Top Notch as a solution for most folks. Switching back to ABP = back to performance and effectiveness standards to which I had become accustomed.Several sites required manually adding ads that "slipped through the cracks" Website ads are 'generally' blocked with the same° effectiveness.I experience MANY more BBoD instances ( maybe I am being too critical - FF is a resource hog - period.I experience a noticeable slowdown in browser performance - all sites, ad bearing or not.I will "DISable" AdBlockPlus and run only AdBlock for a while to see if it pleases my sensibilities.ĭo you have any idea why this fella and his gal are avoiding the Mozilla process? (isn't this about the same thing as Apple App Stores process?) This time, I proceeded (again, on your reputable word) That would have stopped me in the previous installation. I can only assume what that means = the Author has chosen not to post it there - and thus, cannot have the add-on vetted by Mozilla to give it the ".-signed" designation. Plain ole AdBlock is not available at the Mozilla Add-on search page. I trust your judgement, so I Allowed this to continue, only to get this. Upon choosing the Big Green Button on your linked page, Firefox started "barking" at me! I am sure that in that instance I followed your same advice - but oddly - I do not have AdBlock installed yet disabled. I recall this from another discussion - vaguely. It and Adblock Plus are not related to one another. If you want to block advertisements AdBlock may be more appropriate. Who decides what is intrusive and what isn't? Hint: not you. Adblock Plus is designed to convey targeted advertising considered "non-intrusive" under agreements with "larger properties" possessing the resources to do that.
